Hearing Healthcare in
Snohomish County
At Stanwood Hearing, we provide quality hearing care and hearing aids services to adults of all ages. Whether you are experiencing hearing loss in one ear or another hearing disorder, we are here to provide you with expert care.
Hearing Tests
At our hearing clinic, we offer comprehensive hearing exams to test your hearing ability and to determine what degree of hearing loss you have. During your hearing evaluation, we will perform the following tests:
- Pure Tone Air
- Bone Conduction
- Speech and Word Discrimination
The hearing evaluation typically lasts up to one hour. This includes time spent discussing with our hearing instrument specialist to review your results and ask any questions. We recommend bringing a spouse or family member with you to your first appointment. Having a familiar voice with you and the support of a loved one can help you retain more information and gives us a better idea of your situation.
Video Otoscope
Before your hearing test we will use a video otoscope to look inside your ear canal. A video otoscope is a high-powered, fiber-optic camera, enabling in-depth visualization of the ear canal and eardrum. This allows you to see the inside of your own ears and to know what we are looking at during your ear exam.
Hearing Aid Evaluations
We work with many of the major hearing aid brands to offer you a wide range of technology. Once we’ve performed a hearing check, we will have a conversation with you on what you want to get out of your hearing aids. We will then recommend hearing aids that we believe will be the most helpful for your individual hearing needs. We carry Bluetooth hearing aids as well as rechargeable hearing aids that can provide you with a seamless listening experience.
Hearing Aid Fitting
After you’ve chosen which hearing aids you would like to move forward with, we will expertly fit and program them to your unique needs. We will work with you to create the best listening experience with your new hearing aids.
Hearing Aid Repairs
If something isn’t working right with your hearing aids, bring them in and we’ll make any necessary adjustments. We can repair any model of hearing aid in our office. For more major repairs we can send your hearing aids to the manufacturer to be fixed.
Your hearing aids may need to be examined or fixed if you are experiencing:
- Intermittent sound or no sound at all
- Feedback or high-pitched whistling
- Static noise
- Discomfort or pain upon insertion into the ear
Hearing Aid Batteries
We carry hearing aid batteries in our office as well as other parts such as hearing aid wax guards and domes.
Hearing Protection
Loud noise exposure is one of the most common causes of hearing loss in adults. Sound is measured in units called decibels (dB). Normal sounds that are safe for your hearing, such as a conversation between two people, registers around 60 dB. Sounds that are louder than 85 dB are considered too loud and can cause damage to your hearing when you are exposed to them over a long period of time. Any sound that reaches over 120 dB can cause permanent hearing loss even if exposed to the sound just one time.
At Stanwood Hearing, we can create custom earmolds and earplugs for the ultimate hearing protection. Whether you like to ride motorcycles, attend live music, or you work in noisy environments, hearing protection is a great way to keep your ears safe.
